    I have found that fishing line stretched from tree to tree with shiny ribbons or small tins....like the ones from pot pies, or small shiny pinwheels, every few feet or so have been keeping the hawks away. They know better than to get entangled in the line and don't like the shiny items flopping...

    A hawk swooped down and actually hit the chicken wire while trying to get at my chickens. My coop and little courtyard are fenced in so I was very surprised that it even tried. I Can't believe it was so bold. My chickens and chicks ran inside their coop and didn't come back out for hours.

    This morning I woke up to the sounds of panic in the chicken coop. Upon inspection we found a chick dead. When my hubby moved the nesting box there was a snake behind it.     No.The babies were up in their nesting box. It's about six feet high inside our coop. The door was locked also. But a snake could of dropped down from a tree, or so I was told.
