****Update***
Peter is doing A LOT better now :)
His wattles have gone down completely and there is only a tiny but of blue on them. He is acting completely normal again and is back to scarfing down all his food and prancing around all his girls.
Thank you everyone for your help!!!
Thank you so much for all of your help! I really appreciate it. I'm pretty far away from town, but I plan on going out tomorrow to get some asprin to help his pain. I'm not sure where I can get penicillin for him because I think his wattles might be infected. They are warm to the touch. I have...
I just added some pictures. Today He is still as swollen but now he isn't eating as much as he did yesterday :( How do I make the swelling go down?? The garage that he is in is room temperature.
Last night was a very cold night and my rooster got frostbite on his wattles as well as in between them. This morning they were very swollen and since then i have had him in the garage all day to keep warm. There is so much swelling that it is actually keeping his mouth open because it is so...
Here is my red sex link pullet. I'm not sure exactly how old she is. Could anyone help me with some guesses??? I want to know how much longer I have to wait before she starts laying.
I believe the first chicken is a girl and I know the second is a boy. At first I though they were the same breed but they are both very different. The cockerel looks like his feathers are stained, but that is just his colouring. There are also some speckles around the neck of the first chicken...
My black sex link chicken has been laying brown eggs for about a year. Over the past few weeks I have noticed that her eggs have been getting a little lighter in colour and now they are very close to being white. They are all consistent in size though. Should I be worried?
Thank you!! :) Say that I wanted to have only a certain amount of eggs fertilized. Would I have to wait about 3-5 days then after the last time the hen and rooster have mated to know that they are now unfertilized?
I recently found out that I have a cockerel and I am considering breeding my chickens. When the rooster mates with one of the chicken's once, will only one egg be fertilized? Or will there be a string of eggs fertilized? If so, how many? When will I know when the eggs become unfertilized after?
Thank you! I was wondering what makes you say that makes you think the third chicken is a cockerel? I'm still learning and would like to know the characteristics of cockerels for this breed.
