Anyone in San Diego Country Estates interested in trying to change the HOA rule against keeping chic

I have not received any notices from the HOA. My neighbor bought some chickens and one was a rooster. She got a letter and got rid of the rooster. She has not received any additional letters. Also, I had some erosion measures taken in the open preserve behind our home and the gentleman...

Anyone in San Diego Country Estates interested in trying to change the HOA rule against keeping chic

I attended and spoke in favor of chickens in the Estates. I interpreted from the BODs decision to not vote on whether my chickens are pets means that I get to make that decision in their absence. I told the board that I had chickens in the backyard and I am now awaiting the letter from the HOA...

    Keeping Chickens Free Range

I'm standing by with bated breath to see if my girls make their way back into the coop after 2 days of lock down. I put in the decoy eggs today too. Hopefully, they go into the coop unassisted and start laying eggs in their nesting boxes :) Although, I think I have a few more weeks to go...

Thanks for the great advice. I'm letting them fly the coop again today. Hopefully they go back in on their own tonight!

    Keeping Chickens Free Range

Thanks Duluthralphie! Consider those hens in lock down for the next few days. Is it too soon to put in the fake eggs to encourage where to lay? I've been debating if I should go ahead and put in some decoys.

Brand New Chicken Mom -- No idea what Gender (EE and Welsummer)

Good Luck come Monday when you have 14 new chicks :) I'm jealous, but we live in town and have ordinances against roosters and limit our number. I am happy that we live in a community that allows them at all. I had no idea that I would love being a chicken mom. My poor dog is wondering why...

Brand New Chicken Mom -- No idea what Gender (EE and Welsummer)

Great, thanks. I was really fearing eliminating a member of my flock. Seriously, these chickens are therapeutic. I love sitting outside in the evening and watching my chickens! My daughter calls herself a "chicken hawk" and swoops down and picks them up to hold. I was a little worried about...

Brand New Chicken Mom -- No idea what Gender (EE and Welsummer)

I got my chicks from the local feed and seed on 9 May. I think they are about 7 weeks. I know that 4 are Easter Eggers and 2 are Welsummers, but I don't know their sexes. Unfortunately, if there is a roo in the bunch, then I'll have to get rid of him. I have perused most of the sites but can...
