Feather loss on neck/vent area - tried everything, need help!

Hi, Thanks for the replies. There is one chicken that is definitely pulling feathers, but not on the neck. Anti-pecking spray has been putting her off and she mostly pulls feathers on the back anyway. I can see some pin feathers coming through on her neck, very slowly. They have been poking...

Feather loss on neck/vent area - tried everything, need help!

Hi, For the past 6 months my bluebell hen Betty has been bald on her neck/ears and also has a bald area around her vent which looks quite sore. She is eating normally and laying extremely well. I've tried a variety of things, none of which seem to be working. - Initially I tried DE powder...

What could have caused this bald patch and feather damage? Mites?

I'd noticed that Betty had some scruffy feathers around her neck for a few weeks, but had a look and the skin didn't look inflamed/red, so thought it was nothing. However I've had another look at her today and she has a MASSIVE bald patch that goes up and all around her neck. The feathers...

Chicken Beak deformity or debeaking? Will it cause problems?

Thanks for the info everyone. Went to see the breeder today and it turns out these bluebells were bought in as chicks from another breeder - this breeder has apparently debeaked them :( very sad, but she can eat fine and it's not very noticeable. Hopefully the crookedness won't be too much of...

Chicken Beak deformity or debeaking? Will it cause problems?

Thanks everyone. It doesn't look too severe at the moment but my worry is that it will get worse as the chicken gets older, and I don't have enough experience to clip her beak! It does cross over quite a bit, and obviously if they are not wearing away evenly it will continue to grow longer and...

Chicken Beak deformity or debeaking? Will it cause problems?

We have just brought home an 18 week old Bluebell from a local breeder, only to get her home and notice that she has a crooked beak - the top is shorter than the bottom and it is growing slightly lopsided. The breeder was a local hobby breeder - nothing large scale, so I don't think she has...

Help sex my ambiguous Cream Legbar day-old

Thanks. Their wing feathers are coming in now and the males are visibly lighter, however one of the darker males has mottled wings that are not at light at the ends. His wings look more like the female wing feathers. Will have to wait and see!

Help sex my ambiguous Cream Legbar day-old

Thanks - posted the pic again as I didn't post it properly the first time. People on different forums are seeing different things! There are two that seem to have characteristics of both male and female so I guess time will tell!

Help sex my ambiguous Cream Legbar day-old

We have had a clutch of 7 hatch and are a little confused two. Two are definitely boys, two are definitely girls but we're not sure about the rest! They have head spots, so does that automatically mean boys?
