    Feeding a chicken going to freezer camp

    Thank you! I keep telling myself it needs to be done, and I will do it. And I do think that he will taste that much better because he is being such a total brat. Back in another "lifetime", we had pigs and beefers that we brought to the butcher, and they came back in nice neat little packages...

    Feeding a chicken going to freezer camp

    Not looking forward to this, but it has to be done and there is no one else to do it for me. I know it will bother me, but he is not good with anyone. He attacked the cats every chance he got and chased them around to the point I had to step in to stop him, bit me on the leg one day, beat up on...

    Feeding a chicken going to freezer camp

    Thank You! I need to freezer camp an obnoxious cockerel, the brat bit me for a second time and broke skin this go round, so he's done! I would prefer to do this without a full crop/intestines, so I will pull his food the night before

    Feeding a chicken going to freezer camp

    Awesome, thank you! I wanted to be sure I wasn't going to be making a mistake which might ruin the meat.

    Feeding a chicken going to freezer camp

    I am planning on freezer camping a young rooster, and I have a newbie question. I know that when cows/pigs/etc are processed, they need to "be fasted" i.e. no food for "x" amount of time, and I was wondering if, and if so, how much time do they need to be fasted for?

    Eggtopsy: What happened to my egg? {Graphic Pictures}

    Whenever I don't listen to the logical aspects in all things, it comes back to bite me. I really should have ignored that person and went with my instincts. I do think the water here isn't good, so I will just get distilled water. It will eliminate one more possible cause.

    Eggtopsy: What happened to my egg? {Graphic Pictures}

    Yes, I was trying to do a staggered hatch. I was told that it wasn't a problem to do it, but I guess it just doesn't work. I probably ruined the staggered eggs too:( I really should learn not try things when they seem like it shouldn't work. Do you think the water I used could have been an...

    Eggtopsy: What happened to my egg? {Graphic Pictures}

    There was another that pipped, but it and the last one that successfully hatched both were away from the air cell. The one that pipped but didn't make it had most of the yolk absorbed, but it wasn't completely absorbed. The last one that hatched successfully had a mushier belly, so i left it in...

    Eggtopsy: What happened to my egg? {Graphic Pictures}

    Is it possible to have too high of humidity if you are using dry incubation? I had a bunch fail to hatch, and they all had yolk sacs that were not absorbed. I never added water at the beginning, and the humidity readings were in the low 30's to high 20's during the first 18 days. I added water...

    Mine were eating the caulk from around the house, or at least attempting to do it. After seeing that, they now live in their tractor permanently...I don't want to eat eggs from caulk eating chickens!!!:sick

    growing chicken feed

    Raising mealworms is very easy, although with 50 chickens that would take quite a few, but still doable, and a good source of protein. Another couple of things to consider are the black oil sunflowers and duckweed.

    Review by '' on item 'Barred Rock'

    I don't know if it is a common trait with these chicks, but the pullets I recently purchased from a hatchey are very aggressive. They go after me when I am trying to move them to and from their outdoor pen. I have some very sweet black australorps from the same hatchery, and they are wonderful...
