We only have 3 hens right now, they are mostly past their egg laying prime, and I’m not sure which one it came from. Thanks for answering—I’ll read into lash egg info.
Hi Everyone, not sure whether this is the best place to post my question, but this morning when doing daily chicken chores next to the normal overnight poop piles was this. It’s a firm rubbery texture and is all one long thing. Has anyone seen this or know what it may be or mean?
She’s pecking at that thing on her foot but not getting pecked. She’s our 9,10, the big fat hen and coop queen. I don’t see ants, but sometimes see mosquitoes in the nest boxes. Now she’s yawning and shaking her head
She is eating drinking and foraging, but sitting more than usual. And since I’ve been watching closer she’s pecking at the scabby pox thing on her foot. It doesn’t really look like the bumble foot pics I’ve seen, but that isn’t something I’ve dealt with yet

Well, if there’s any interest in the outcome, I soaked and cleaned her up and got a better look…it wasn’t her vent, it was just in front of it. An opening 2 inches or so across, with lots of small white worms going in and out. Her last egg was a week or two ago, and I guess maybe an injury of...
Thanks for answering so quickly. I haven’t tried any soaking/cleaning yet, it looks as large as the opening on a chicken from the supermarket! There aren’t any innards hanging out, but it’s really disturbing and can’t imagine she’s even alive! I’ll try and clean her up and put some veteracin all...
Hi, our 3 year old Rhode Island Red hen had diarrhea for several days, and today when catching and examining them for monthly dusting, I saw the vent is blackened and open—it looks like I can see innards! She’s been eating and drinking, but not hanging out with the others. Uggg… is there...
