I have 4 CCL hens and 1 EE in a coop with a CCL rooster. All my girls are laying and my girls are laying teal-ish eggs and one lt.green. I was a bit disappointed too but the eggs are pretty. I was going to put my 2 blue egg laying Americanas in with them but now I'm afraid I will mess up the...
I've been watching about preserving eggs and a thought came to mind...wonder if the eggs just might hatch if they were fertile...since they are not refrigerated....what if????
If you chop up excess scobys in small pieces (use scissors works best) the chickens gobble them up too. I tried a food processor but just got a stringy mess lol.
I have used kombucha that has over fermented and also used the whey leftover from my milk kefir when making cheese and yogurt. The chickens absolutely love it. I dont drain my liquid off though, I mix in layer feed and chick feed to soak up the liquid and make it dry. They gobble it down. Every...
I want to breed some pink egg layers.
Wouldn't it be cool to have pink-pink eggs? And maybe pink with brown speckles? I'm toying with a crossing recipe to see what happens but all my chickens I want to use are too young so I'm at least 2 years away I'm thinking...lol

I'm curious as to why Easter Egger....for egg color?
Easter eggers would be ok with me too lol...I want colorful eggs! I had wondered if they could possibly be but the leg color made me wonder a bit, my dad has EEs and they have pretty green and grey legs so I wasn't sure if these could be or not. Thanks for the reply!
Hey guys! Last week I got my first ever order from a hatchery...I ordered 5 ameraucana day old pullets, now 1 week later they dont really look like ameraucanas to me. Their little combs are starting to grow in, they all look alike and they don't have the puffy cheeks like some others I have or...
Lol nope! Hatching eggs was not on my want-to-do-list!!! I wanted these girls for egg color BUT... I was reading several places online about them and egg color and it was in one article that they can still produce fertile eggs for a few days after being removed from a rooster...well I have an...
I bought 4 hens (who had been laying) yesterday afternoon, not 1 laid today.
Now I'm under the impression hens store sperm, they had been penned up with a huge flock with roosters, if they lay later in the week do you reckon the eggs will be still be fertile? I do not have them with a rooster...
I just want some Black Copper Marans or French Blue so I can have some really dark eggs. I've tried to find some the past few weeks and I cant even find any eggs to hatch😔. Looks like I'm in for a long wait
