They only have small white patches, maybe a few little feathers. One has it mostly on her wing and the other one has it on the side of her chest. No bibs, and it really isn't much white. I can't wait to see, either! I wasn't able to see them when they were still young, since I just got them and...
Thank you! The black ones have random white spots on them, so I wasn't quite sure if they could be cayugas. Our last Cayuga didn't have a speck of white anywhere!
Hello!
I went into our local feed store today, and there were 4 ~month old ducklings that have been there for a while and needed a good home. So, of course, they came home with me! We have only had pekin, Cayuga, and mallards, and I'm not sure of the breeds I picked up today. Not that it...
Unfortunately, my sweet girl passed away last night. she was doing fine, but then someone pecked at her(I'm assuming) and opened up her butt and her intestines were out of her body. we tried to save her, but were unable. I am hoping to figure out what happened to her to prevent it from happening...
Thanks!! I know more about my chickens than ducks, this is a learning experience for me! I just have the two pekin ducks that I got from someone who couldn't keep them.
They are already learning who I am, it's so cute!
Thank you! I had no idea what the black one might be. S/he is very sweet. I hadn't even thought of mallards, I can't wait until they get a bit older to really tell
Hello! I have two pekin ducks, and I just got four ducklings. I believe that I have one pekin and two Rouen's, but I'm not 100% sure of the fourth type. S/he is all black. does anyone have any ideas? and confirmation possibly about the other two? Thank you in advance!
I am glad to report that the swelling has been reducing on its own, and she still is acting as though nothing was ever wrong! She really did have me worried for a while. I still haven't figured out what was wrong, but it must not have been serious since it's healing on its own. Thank you for...
Wyorp Rock, I haven't seen her or any of the others pecking at her, she has been interacting with the other girls without a problem. She doesn't seem to be in any discomfort any longer, she did not want me to touch it on Friday but even by Saturday she was okay with it.
Mrs Brooke, the lump is...
This is a picture; she is swollen and there are scabs, but she does not appear to be in any discomfort from it. The spot was tender previously but she doesn't seem to be tender anymore. I still don't know what it is, but I'm glad she seems to be doing fine
I've gotten so frustrated with them, the males really are so nasty to the chickens and have even attacked me. The chickens are loving that the guineas are no longer attacking them, and everything has gotten calm again. I hope that once the males are no longer there that the four females will be...
It isn't prolapse, her vent is fine. She is only swollen under her vent, it is soft, and she is tender. She is acting absolutely fine, still eating, running around, and jumping up onto the roosts and other things.
I will take a picture later today, it is raining and very dark still now.
I just had to separate my guineas from the chickens and ducks today, the male was so aggressive that I was constantly hearing cries from my chickens. The last straw was when all of my hens refused to go into the run and hid behind and under whatever they could to get away from him. I hope to be...
