I have them on wet paper towels now. Humidity is up over 70%. I've only hatched in the summer & florida humidity is never a problem. This sucks. They both have a zip about an inch long but I helped do that & they haven't done much else. I'm sooooo sad. Plus there are two more that haven't even...
I have never had a chick that pipped & didn't hatch out healthy. I'm heartbroken but worse now I'm scared for the rest. I set 7 eggs, 1 hatched last night & one this morning. I moved them to the brooder together. Then 3 more pipped. Humidity has been low but I didn't want to open the bator...
Congrats! They are all so good looking. I love that rooster :-) we have 16 out of 20 hatched right now. Only one more made a tiny pip & the other have done nothing. I'll give them a while yet. All 16 are silver except the 3 with a leghorn mama. Crazy how strong that white trait is!
I've been out of room for awhile but I love it! My poor husband had to keep clearing out more land & building more coops which would be great if we actually owned this place. This will be my last hatch until our pioneers start laying. They are our meat birds so I can hatch as many as I want...
There it is, lol. Thanks for the info. I think I just didn't have a good connection. We are out doing four back to school hair cuts, hopefully when we get home we will have more chicks!!
We have for chicks in the brooder & 11 pipped! I love hatch day, lol. This kid is a chicken freak. He is all about mixing them for traits & egg coloring. He will be a mad scientist, he actually scored a 100% his science F-CAT last year.
Here are my chicks so far!
It's 4:30 in the morning here but we have a chick! Yay! You're are so cute, Ciry, congrats! I'll post some of mine in the real morning, lol. Hopefully I'll have more :-)
Lol, that's too funny. Sick & sad but also funny. I'd live to know if you get this duck to hatch! I read a story recently about duck eggs being put back into an incubator after sitting out for two days. A majority still hatched. A week is a really long time I'm sorry to say but get a heat lamp &...
I'm in Florida & it's rainy season. I ran a dry hatch also but my humidity stayed around 50%. I'm in lockdown now & they are pipping. We are sitting at 75% note. I'm super nervous about sticky chicks or really any hatching problems. It's my second hatch. My first went smoothly with a 65% hatch...
My 11 year old son is more addicted than I am. He has sat by the bator all day telling me exactly who has pipped, who has peeped & who is shaking. It's too funny but I'm glad he is going to bed. Make room buddy, mama's turn to stare! Haha.
Chickens that have suffered trauma can also lay very thin eggs. The snake may have had something to do with it. Congrats on getting rid of the snake! Sorry for the loss of her chick.
Aww, I'm sorry. That's tough. I haven't had that situation so I have no advice but I'll be following so I can learn also. Good luck, keep us posted & I hope someone on here can help you.
Man, I really thought I was doing better with this hatch than my first. I haven't been obsessing (my husband would disagree, lol) I haven't called out of work to watch the temps, I haven't been singing to them.... Okay maybe a little. All in all, I've felt more accepting that it's going to...
I just gave myself a quick science class, lol. We're still gonna go for it. Yours look great! I tried to attach a picture but it doesn't look like it worked.
