What Chicken Breeds do you Dislike & Why?

By far Red Sex Links were the breed that gave me the worst problems. They always seemed to get some kind of ailment, or behavior issues. I know where I live that most of these come from the same hatchery, and that may have something to do with it but I just stopped purchasing this type of bird...

    Two Broody white Leghorns!

Some of my best "crosses" were with my leghorn hens and EE roosters. The offspring laid green eggs and were tough birds.

    Egg Shell Problems

Ive had that same issue with production reds and it was driving me crazy. I was always feeding a 21% or 22% layer pellet. My son bought the wrong feed last time and so I just used it and it was a 18% pellet. Coincidence I dont know but the egg problem stopped. The hens are laying good again...

First time byc first time incubatorer

Sometimes it just goes like this

I had 30 eggs in the incubator and I mentioned before that they were from a questionable source. However the due date came and six hatched. I am very grateful for that. They are doing well. Then last night my 2nd incubator which had my duck eggs, bulb blew during the night, and I woke up to...

    Be careful

I just bought a lot of eggs to hatch from ebay, two different sources. I really question the "fertility". I candled them at 10 days and very few show any signs of life. Ive been doing this a long time and I realize there can be many factors that effect hatchability etc, but you get what you...
