    No Crow Rooster Collar

I use one on my silky roo. He's worn it for atleast 6 months with no problems. I do check on it every couple weeks. He still crows but it is a lot quieter.

Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

I was eating a hard boiled egg at work yesterday. Since I often call the fur babies in the house my "kids", my coworker goes "is that like eating one of your grandchildren?" I told her nope, for one thing it's not a chick and for the other the chickens are more like employees. I then had to...

do silkies make good adition to a flock

I got my Silkie girls with a pair of Leghorns and they grew up with no issues. Added in two Easter Eggers, a Maran and a Silkie roo and still have no issue. However I have a seriously chill flock. Even when I introduced ducklings at two different times they didn't attack any of the new birds.

    Leghorn Lovers Thread!!! Anybobdy welcome!

Not the greatest picture but that's my ladies: Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dumb. I actually find my Easter Eggers much flightier than the leghorns.

Putting Ducklings outside at 3 weeks?

If I was willing to run a light in the duck house this would work for me as well. I just don't trust that the fur balls I have running around wouldn't snag a cord or something. Starting a fire worries me

Putting Ducklings outside at 3 weeks?

I have them outside at the moment. I'm thinking take them outside during the day to play as well as try to keep the indoors mess down. Then bring them inside in the evening for overnight warmth.

Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

On the therapy dog note: I recently had one friend get his dog certified as an emotional support dog for the sole reason of being able to have him in pet free housing. Another friend was talking about doing the same with her cat for the same reason. They are friend and I love them but I wish...

Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

Recent sigh worthy moment: I was explaining to a coworker that I sold my ducks cause they grew up to be all boys and I wanted layers. Her response: Do the males not lay eggs?

    Rooster/Flock Advice Needed

Food for thought: I believe I read on here somewhere that the Silkie roo/non bantam Breed hen won't result in as many fertile eggs. I haven't checked my leghorn hens' eggs lately so I'm not sure that's the case. As much as I love my silky boy, I vote the Maran.

My neighbor is upset that I DON'T have a rooster!

Lol. My next door neighbor wanted me to get a rooster as well. He said he wanted to feel like he's back home. The neighbor behind them has atleast one roo and he and his wife love the crowing.
