I LOVE living on a farm! Snakes and spiders don't bother me, which is good, because we have plenty of both! I would rather have the bullsnakes around to keep the mice under control than use poison.

All 5 of my ducks are females, so I'm lucky there. And if we have a bullsnake big enough to eat a goose egg, well.....I think I'll have to catch him and donate him to a zoo or museum!!

That is the egg-thieving bullsnake I found in my duck's nest. I relocated him to the shop side of the barn hoping he'll go after the mice instead of the duck eggs. That was August, and I haven't seen him since! If it had been a rattle snake, I would have killed it instead of just moving it.

I've seen it somewhere, and now I can't find it, but what are some good treats to give ducks and geese in the winter? I'm thinking their usual treat of thawed-but-still-cold frozen veggies won't be as good of an idea as it was in summer. I know I'll have to increase their feed amounts. Also...

I may be biased, but I highly recommend Great Pyrenees for protecting farms!
