Adding bantams to established full size flock
I have one Black Bantam Cochin Frizzle in my flock of 9 full size hens, she is tiny and I used to worry about her being picked on, but she quickly established herself above 3 to 4 of the full size hens, even getting the prime spot on the roost from time to time. I bought 2 young chickens about 5 months ago, I was told they were both amauricana pullets but now one of them is huge ( over 20" tall) and has started mounting the hens...is this a rooster...sorry my pic isn't very good...my profile pic is of he/she when young...- clehmberg

Thats great advice and I am having fun, more fun than I ever thought I would. My dad, who is 83 years old also has chickens so it has been a bonding experience for both of us, I call him almost daily with a funny chicken story and we both laugh like crazy. Are my chickens ok in this awful cold??
If i pull out the lamp I'm afraid they will stop laying because of the change. my humidity gauge says that is almost 40% humidity in there, which I'm assuming is to much so I will open the vents more. I keep the coop very clean so there is no ammonia smell at all. Its all so confusing because...- clehmberg

I have a thermometer and humidity gauge in my coop, what is considered to much humidity? HELP!!! Pullet with a poop problem is making me worried!
she is the runt of my flock and also the fastest so she doesn't get pecked when she steals food from the full grown hens so she is hard to catch. i will see what I can do and I will post what happens. thank you for you help.- clehmberg
