@sally sun Im having trouble posting pictures but my little egg that was laid apparently on top of my broody during her nesting time, abandoned, and then put into a 50 year old incubator with no humidity gauge and with temps kind kf all over the place, finished hatching about an hour ago. He/she...
Hey guys! Thought I would give you an update on my failed broody hen/incibating experience. So, unfortunately I did end up finding one chick that had fallen out of the nest box and froze (i didnt think I was crazy hearing the peeping) and then remember i found 1 egg that i figured mudt have been...
Ok so remember how I said that i heard eggs cracking and chirping and my broody was purring but when we got her off the nest there was no chick and there was an egg that was put in the incubator that seemed to be about 16 days along...? I just went to thoroughly clean out the nesting box and...
well its sitting pretty at 99.9 right now so we shall see! I know you arent supposed to hatch just one chick at a time but last time thats all i ended up with too (apparently I suck at this but I am learning with each failure) and she turned out ok....even if she is having to learn to be a...
Hey its me the broody chicken hatcher...so...things didnt go as planned and when i came home yesterday (day 25) my broody had decided she was done. I checked the eggs and one of my polish eggs still has a very wiggly little chick in it. I dont know how long she was off the nest but the egg still...
Ok guys I'm back with my broody questions!! Sorry but the broody thread is waaaay less active than this one and I am impatient and figured one of you might know...so as I posted yesterday I have a broody sitting on 4 eggs. Its her first time and she is young. Its also MY first time trying with a...
Ha! I haven't touched her at all!! Just watching from the other side of the 8x8 coop!! (That I just built for her by myself, from scratch with pallets and scraps, over my christmas break I might add so I hope she appreciates it!! Lol)
Ok i know this is an incubation thread but one more question about my broody please... ;) if the chicks have hatched will they stay under her or come out and stay next to her? Also could I hear them chirping if they are under her or would they be quiet since they are snuggly warm under their momma?
ok I will try and be patient! Would I be able to hear chicka chirping if they hatch and are under her still or will they be quiet since they are warm and snuggly? Lol
Ok I will try and be patient!! It is definitely not my strongest skill for sure!! Plus I have to go back to work tomorrow after being off for 2 weeks and I just know I am going to miss the babies! Bad timing! ;( Thanks for the input!
Ok guys this is my first time hatching with a broody. Today is day 21 and I havent heard anything yet. My hen is young and this is her first hatch also. She has been extremely dedicated to sitting. I only had 4 eggs under her. My question is- Can I peek and see whats going on with the eggs at...

Thanks for responding! The chick still has its butt in the shell and is still breathing. Not peeping and is still curled up how it was in the egg. I personally can't see it surviving but who knows. I wrapped it in a semi moist paper towel and its still in the incubator.
Ok guys i have a question...its now day 22 1/2 and i have one chick that pipped for over 24 hrs and seemed to stop peeping so i began to help it and peeled the outer shell from over its head and zipped the rest of the way around. Its bottom and 60% of its body are still in the bottom of the egg...
