    Silkie thread!

I ordered 7 white silkies, straight run, mix of bearded & non bearded from a hatchery. This morning someone had said that usually the hatcheries only give you non bearded. Is that true? How can I tell if these babies are bearded or not. They're only 5 days old. Can you tell this early?

We plan on breeding them eventually. That's why we wanted pure breeds, not just for the eggs.

Introducing new or just doing away with the old

Right now we have 9 hens & 1 roo that are 7 months old. We bought them from a backyard breeder who said they were australorps. Well.. they're mixed, & we really wanted full breeds. So, we ordered some full breeds, 17 pullets & 2 roos that are currently in the brooder and are about 4 weeks now...

The directions say to use 7-14 days. Her breathing, eating & drinking are all back to normal. The only problem that she still has is the watery poo.

    tetracycline

I have a hen that has a respiratory infection. It was advised to give her tetracycline which has helped. We are on day 5 of the treatment but her poo is still very watery. Would the meds make it this way? She seems back to normal other wise. Maybe there's something else going on? TIA
