I have a Wheaton Marans that looked a lot like that when small. She turned out to be a rooster. However, Marans Tend ti have earkr combs and large ones such as you have.

We are in Tucson. We have a mister system in the coop and one in the run area toi. Also they love watermelon and that us good for internal hydration. I use ice in water barrels in late summer in Arizona. Mo matter barrel it gets too hot for them to drink. Abd keep in shade all the time (water).

I have had Silver laced Wyandotts in the past. They are beautiful and black and white spots like a Rock Bard but larger spots and their coat shimmers in the light and looks very velvety on head and neck. My two got quite large by time they were laying.
