Nest 1 (prime rel estate): 4 eggs
Nest 2 (revitalized slum): 2 fake eggs, 2 real eggs

The curtains are up, the ceramic eggs are in the offending nest. The results after one day: six eggs in the favorite nest, 2 ceramic eggs in the other one.
Chickens are pretty weird, but so are people. Why would I care whether they really like just one nest? As I think about it, I realize...
Good point about treating both nests equally, sunflour. I can see how that might be effective. I slapped up a short piece of fabric on the tops of both nests, so we'll see.
That was before I saw your post Ridgerunner, and your point about not fixin what's not broke sounds like my life. But...

I've suspected that the corner nest is the prime real estate because it's slightly more private. So per your suggestion sunflour, I think I'll try to darken the other nest with a small piece of fabric.
