This rooster is 28 Weeks old, he is a shockingly kind rooster generally non-aggressive. The rooster is a naked neck chicken, almost certainly not a pure bred naked neck. He is fertile, as he has fertilized many of our eggs. He is being sold because we are keeping chickens for egg consumption and...
As a quick update, her wattle has cleared up and there doesn't seem to be any lasting effect or any scarring. I still don't know what it was but it seems to have gone away.
She has yet to develop a real wattle as of yet, they are still relatively young. She has no other swelling anywhere else on her face or body. Today when I checked her the sac that she had seemed to have emptied and scabbed up. It seemed like it was a large ball of some liquid that had burst...
I got a closer picture of it tonight.
Sorry these aren't great, it was hard to get her to keep still.
What ever it was leaking earlier today has stopped, it didn't really smell but it was a light rust color.
Hey guys, I have a 6 chickens in an outdoor run in southern California, they are about 4 months old. One of my chickens, a Jersey Giant, has some kind of growth hanging from her neck leaking some kind of fluid over her chest. She seems normally active and eats with the other pullets.
I have...
They aren't laying yet. They're only 3 months old right now. I have a roost set up for them too, and none of them have ever even tried to use it. They usually sleep in the boxes, right now they aren't asleep yet and are just huddled in there together (Probably trying to sleep).
Today I took this image of my other naked neck,
Is the red skin on her high neck indicative of health issues? Or is it just the development of her comb and a normal reddening of her head?
Also, all the pullets are grouping together in one box, despite having two other boxes to choose from...
I have 6 3-month old pullets, they are housed in a large run with a box on one side with three segmented boxes, the two end boxes are of equal size and are about 1'x1'x1', the box in the middle is longer than the other two. Tonight I went to check on them and noticed they were all together in...
Update: She doesn't seem to be moving around the cage at all, each day when I check on her she is in the last place I moved her to. I am having to move her to water and food manually, but when she is moved to water or food she will eat and drink. I have ordered nutrient supplements but they have...
The other hens would not attack her, at least not intentionally, as I said before there was another pullet in the run that had developmental issues which rendered her unable to walk entirely, the other hens mostly left her alone and she was totally fine until this most recent rain during which...
