Hi, I'd say that you have a pullet in pictures 8-12...
There's even a chance that pics 13-16 are of a pullet, but those red combs and wattles are worrying indeed.
I have a Cochin pullet that looked like this at five weeks of age, she's a very fine hen now...
Hi.
Can you tell me if these two mixed chicks are cockerels or pullets? The bigger one, with spots on the chest is around six weeks old and kinda looks like a pullet to me, even though in its first three weeks of life it looked like a cockerel. I think it's a mix between light brahma X silver...
Hello,
Not sure if this 11 months rooster of mine is a Birchen Marans or maybe a cross?
Perhaps some of you are much more knowledgeable on the subject.
The color is not silvery, is more yellowish and it's I think not widespread enough.
What do you think? Is this a Marans or something...
Hi. I'm thinking blue Australorp or maybe even blue Orpington (since they are kinda fluffy).
But they're very small, it's very hard to tell a breed at this stage. In a month or so things might get clearer, but event then it will be hard to tell. In a couple of months, when their feet will have a...
Hi,
These two roosters are 11 months old. Got them from someone not very knowledgeable on chicken breeds.
Do you have any idea about what breed they might be? Especially the black one.
The black one looks like a Marans, but it has this silvery-yellow leakage and the one with white I suspect is a...
I don't think this particular bird has any Cochin blood. From the start it was very different compared to the other Cochins I have. More precocious, tall, scrawny, flighty, alpha personality. At first I thought it was some kind of hybrid between Australorp and some black sex link (like Moravia...
Hi,
I have this cockerel. It's about 16-17 weeks old. Pretty tall, compared to the other cochin cockerels with which it hatched alongside. I was wondering if it might be a Birchen Marans.
I got it from someone who was not knowledgeable, so I have no background whatsoever on its breed, origin...
Thank you. Very interesting.
And does the comb look like an incipient walnut or a rose?
Or is it too undeveloped and the picture too unclear to determine?
Until this fella, all my chicken were either with pea comb or with single comb, so I didn't have the chance to see other examples. I've...
Hi,
I have this 11 weeks rooster.
I'm thinking it's a silver laced / white columbian mix between a Cochin and a Wyandotte. I have other various mixes between different colors of cochins and that's why I suspect it's partially a cochin.
Or maybe Brahma and Wyandotte.
I'm not sure what kind of...
Hi,
I have this 10 weeks cockerel and I suspect it is a mix between different colors of Cochins.
It has very unusual coloring and I was curious if any of you know which kinds of Cochin mix would give these particular colors. The yellow on the chest is very brownish, no red component in it, thus...
Hi.
I'm updating with some new pics from today. I'm almost sure it's a pullet now. She also acts like one now, always avoiding the aggressive cockerels. I'm having another purebreed black brahma pullet and EIGHT cockerels and the two pullets kinda self-isolated from the cockerels. All are about...
Hi,
I got some gold laced/buff/partridge mix standard Cochin chicks. The're five weeks now.
One is obviously a cockerel, but I'm not sure about the more feathered one.
Do you think it's a pullet? I suspect it's also a cockerel that just happens to be more feathered at this age.
Hi,
Should Australorp hens have "hairy" faces?
Like my hen from the first and second pictures (the other black hen from the second picture is a black egglaying hybrid, NOT an Australorp)? Also, the hen is very big. Almost as big as a Brahma.
P.S. The rooster is an Australorp X Brahma cross.
Below are some pictures of part of my flock. What do you think? In the last picture, the smaller hen is actually a black egglaying hybrid, not an Australorp. The larger hen is an Australorp. Is the hybrid rooster larger than an average Australorp rooster?
