Based on replies and feedback she just has less fuzz than the others and feathers should come in normal on time. So, I am just keeping her warm and comfortable, as I have been. Thank you SO MUCH everyone.
Also, my duck eggs are on day 6. I haven't candled them and I am keeping the humidity...
The picture at the bottom was about 1 hours after she got out of the incubator and went into the brooder, maybe a day old. She has very thin down when it is completely dry but you can still see her bare skin. She is the yellow duckling at the bottom. It is very noticeable how different she...
I know right!!! She is growing at the same rate as the rest of our ducklings. Her yellow coat however, is not growing! Her head and her tail seem to be nicely covered!
Hey there! I have a duckling questions and was hoping someone could help me.
I have a 10 day old Ancona duckling that seems to have no feathers/down/fuzz/covering. I can't tell if it is falling out or if it is not growing. She is eating and drinking normal. The other ducklings are not...
I know there are a lot of people hatching ducks (Yippie); I too have 24 more due in 3 weeks. BUT, I have a question about a 10 day duckling I was hoping someone who had ducks could help me. (I thought this might be good to try here in case anyone else has seen this; I did post in The Duck...
@mlm Mike @Chaos18
Here is the link for the Duck Sexing Video I watched. It was informative. It started out with color sexing which applies to some breeds and then vent sexing. Good luck. I was able to accurately sex 1, get a good prediction on 2 and 1 of them I just couldn't do...
I washed a video in vent sexing that Metzer did. Hit is pretty easy and pretty self explainatory. They said it is best to sex before 3 days old. I just couldn't figure out on of them. I am certain of the boy though. Let me know if you would like a link to the video. I am on my phone and just...
I posted this in the April HAL, I apologize to those that are seeing it 2 times. I thought it may be helpful info for those not reading that thread though.
I have 4 wonderful Ancona ducklings. They seem to love each other and really take care of each other (very different than chicks for...
Final Duck Hatch Update!
I have 4 wonderful Ancona ducklings. 1 Chocolate male, 1 "Likely Lilac" Femle, 1 TBD Female, and 1 Chocolate nonsexed. They are all happily waddling around and making a mess. They seem to love each other. They snuggle up together and comfort each other it seems. I...
@Chaos18 Update!
I came home from work today to find 3 ducklings in my incubator! 2 of them are healthy and perfect. One of them didn't absorb the yoke fully and well, it is kind of a mess. It is active and I hope just healing, resting and absorbing.
I have one egg zipping and one other...
Captain's Log - Day 30
This morning I had 2 eggs pipped and 1 ZIPPING!!! I finally heard chirping this morning from them too!!! So, I am excitedly waiting and hoping.
When I candled at 10 or 14 days I had asked if it was possible for some of my eggs to be developing delayed the say I thought...
These are my grandparents; young, in love and serving. My grandmother always told me about the time they spent stationed in Japan; it was, by far, her favorite place they were stationed. My father, the youngest of their 3 kids, was only 14 when they lived in Japan. He learned to ride a...
Captains Log - Day 29, Part 2
2 eggs have pipped. In the air cells; in the correct position. That is at least a start. We had about 5 power outages, among many other challenges) this hatch so maybe they are just delayed?
Posted earlier today: Captains Log - Day 29, Part 1
I have 3 duck...
@mlm Mike (we were talking about this in the AHAL) We decided on our goats! We will be picking up our 3 Nigerian Dwarf doelings in a couple of weeks! I don't have great pictures and they don't have names yet but I am SUPER excited. I know there are a lot of chicken/goat people so I thought...
Waffle, Biscuit, Gravy and Toast.... if I get a duckling (I have decided to wait and to try again) I think I will name it Latte!
Congrats. I can't wait to see it all dried off.
I have eggs in my incubator from the April Hatch-A-Long that have not hatched yet; does that mean I can join this HAL? (In full disclosure I am on day 29/28) I will likely be setting more eggs later this month too.
Thanks! MamaHMendez
