    FLIES

Don't use the stinky water ones in the run/coop. You can put them around your property, but don't put them somewhere you want flies to not be. It attracts flies for like a mile.

    TSC bantam assortment

I’ll post them in separate replies. Hatched 3/1, purchased from TSC from the bantam assortment bin. All have feathered yellow legs. I have no idea what breed or if they’re hens or roos. Chick 1

@azygous @Wyorp Rock i saw you tagged in some other eye related posts.

2 chicks having trouble (eye/ failure to thrive?)

They’re still chugging on. Peep, the one with the eye issue, will wander some, but the other doesn’t really do much. Got them in a separate container so the bigger birds don’t run over them. Big difference between 2-2.5 ounces and 9 ounces. Got some (hopefully) better images this evening of...

2 chicks having trouble (eye/ failure to thrive?)

I got 10 Silkie chicks from a lady. The night I got them I noticed one was keeping an eye shut, by the next day it was both. I used antibiotic eye drops, and I’ve kept the eye cleaned off. The area around its eye and beak are constantly “matted” for lack of better term. I’ve recently added Tylan...

    Scissor Beak?

We have them for eggs. They're a barnyard mix with Ameraucana heritage, so not really good for show or breeding, but good for eggs and colorful ones!

    Scissor Beak?

These two chicks are 3.5 weeks old now (right at 3 when these pics were taken). The yellow one is Saffron, and the brown one is Chippy. Chippy's beak seems to have been growing in crooked for a week or two, and Saffron has had a bit of a mismatched beak for about the same length of time. I...

First Time Chick Parents, Spring 2016

We got our first chicks today. This is one of them. Our's are a "barnyard mix", crossed between Wheaton/Blue Wheaton Ameraucana and either Silver-Laced Wyandotte, Gold-Laced Wyandotte, or Black Copper Marans. They're straight-run but I'm trying to figure out what to sacrifice to the pullet...

Adding External Nest Box to The Basic Coop

I bought the plans for The Basic Coop from the Garden Coop (also available on My Pet Chicken). However, I'd like to have an external nest box instead of the nest box inside that the plans call for. The Garden Coop website blog has a tutorial (no plans) of how to add an external nest box to The...
