    Cream legbar chick

Sure, I don't mind sharing. I read orpingtons are slow to feather out. I'm pretty sure they are because of the blue tinted feet and color at hatching. But one in particular is really slow. A male possibly? It's a fun game to try to figure it out. :)

    The Legbar Thread!

I know which breeds he had, and I spoke with him. Since this was my first time hatching eggs. I didn't Mark them when I set them. So just thought I would get input. After reading many articles and looking at pictures, I narrowed it down to the two breeds. Rhodebar and blue orpington. I read that...

    Cream legbar chick

I had them indoors, with the heat lamp. They wouldn't fluff out in the incubator. But the time I figured it be ok to move them they were kinda sticky. I had to towel dry a few. The Legbar Thread!

The only reason I think they may be orpington is the blue legs. The Rhodebar chicks have normal colored legs. The three others had blueish legs at hatching. One has some feathers on the legs.

I'm pretty sure I have 2 Rhodebar hens, but what do the boy chicks look like?? I also hatched blue orpington eggs. So those are the lighter chicks or they could be male Rhodebar chicks??

    The Legbar Thread!

I should have explained better. I bought 12 eggs most were Blue Orpington. But he didn't have 12. So I got some copper maran eggs and after calling him found out those chipmunk looking chicks are Rhodebar chicks. They look similar to the CL chicks. As he also had CL there I thought maybe I had...

    The Legbar Thread!

I don't see a spot on these two. By looking at the wings yesterday I think I have two boys. From the orpington eggs. I thought those were my splash chicks.

    Blue Orpington or splash?

So, the guy I got the eggs from is saying they are Rhodebar chicks. They come from the brown egg. Very similar looking chicks as the CL.
