    New Ducklings

Well my babies turned out to be a drake and a female. Sadly something got into my coop and killed my male. It was awful. I was devastated. We have a big problem with people letting dogs roam here. My little female is beside herself. We put out cameras just in case whatever it was comes back.

Broilers from Privett - roo and a hen?

Thank you! I thought so but I am thinking about holding back one or two hens to cross with my Easter Eggers to see if I get some sort of meat cross without having to buy chicks every few months.

Broilers from Privett - roo and a hen?

Hi! I have a batch of straight run broilers and some deleware hens that are about 8 weeks old. I know what the delewares are....but the broilers I am thinking of the 8, there may be 3 hens. But I read that sometimes the comb is not necessarily the best indicator. Would they be fully developed...

    Feeding broilers

With slow growing broilers, should I do a 12 hour feed, 12 hour off type of thing like you'd do with Cornish X? I'm trying to make sure I'm feeding my chicks properly. I've lost two, one to wry neck...the other just keeled over out of the blue. So far I've given pro-biotics, sand, and...

    Chick with wry neck

Good Morning everyone. I just got a batch of slow growing broilers and some deleware chicks. They were fine when I got them home and the next am. We went out for the day and I notice when I got home that one of them looked like it had its head on backwards. So I did some reading and found out...

How to Break a Broody Hen

One of my game hens has gone broody I think. Does it happen like overnight? She seemed fine yesterday, laid today (we took the egg) but will not leave the nesting box. I take her out and she goes right back in. She got me good with a peck and is being an overall jerk.

    Texas

I am interested in the book....I sent you a PM. Also to all the other Texans out here......of the bird breeds mentioned, which would be the best for a meat bird I could raise and breed myself, but would be able to stand the El Paso summers? I don't know if it's hotter here than in other...

Hi! I have two game hens...but I do not know what they are. The people I got them from said they are Giras?(Sp) The closest I could find and yet still not figure out was Giro-hatch? No clue. I just know I like them. It's only two of them...they're a bit shy and like to hide behind...

What do I have? (Pic Heavy)

Hi! So, I'm wondering what I have? Going by what I have read, I think I have Easter Eggers in the white birds.....and the reds are some sort of game hen? The white "easter egger" hen ( Lucy) lays very large greenish eggs. They are OMG so tasty. Only one of the brown hens has laid an egg yet...
