I have been told by several breeders that for the head spots to mean anything it has to be a bcm roo over a legbar hen. The hen passes on the gene that spots the males heads. Let us know hiw it goes
We are too, just working on having an awesome backyard flock:-) Have been researching for awhile.That first hatch would be sexable at hatch. Then you could breed them to what ever breed you want to get more of the traits you want but their chicks woulnt be sexable at hatch.
They won't be auto sexing, niether will mine. The chicks will be sex links, so they will be sexabke at hatch. If you breed those chicks it won't work on their chicks
Hi Maran lovers! I have some Olive Eggers that were bred by a Black Copper Maran rooster and Crusted Cream Legbar hen. Any guess on these "girls"? They are sooo cute and I really want at least two pullets! I'm scared I have all roosters. I'll add pictures as they grow but here they are at 3 days...
I have to 5 week olds and can't tell. They were both supposed to be girls butt I'm starting to wonder. 1 is twice as big with a HUGE red comb the other is smaller with a tiny yellow comb.[/IMG]
