Hello all! I am located in Vancouver, WA. I have a flock of 7.....soon to be six.
My golden laced Wyandotte gave his first crow today. I'm looking for a good home for him. He was hatched the first week of March, this year. I want him to go somewhere great and be loud and happy.
Anyone...
All 7 came from a local feed store called Burns Feed, in OR. They are shipped there from a hatchery in NM.
I'm sure I switched them now after looking at more chick photos....such a simple thing. The one in question is definitely a GLW. I won't be keeping it once it crows. I'll be on the...
This is the only recent one I have of her feathers. The one above is the GLW and the "Ameraucana" that came home together the same day.
The lighter chick has always had that marking around her eye so I didn't mix them up after they came home...it happened immediately. Crap!
I have been wondering about that lacing! I have one that I bought as a GLW. Here she is, bottom of the photo. With the one in question above her.
Now, I am thinking that maybe I mixed them up because they looked very similar for a couple of weeks!! Thoughts?
I'm almost positive this is a rooster. 7 week Ameraucana.
Wide comb, red and larger wattle that the girls (different breeds) a week older than "her".
I know this isn't the best photo.
Looks like I need to add that when I went to pick up the red laces blue Wyandotte, I may have left with a Barnevelder as well. So 6 became 7 very quickly....that was originally supposed to be 5. Hahaha!!
I'm definitely going to get an extension cord dimmer. Great idea! I've been watching the chicks and their behavior is spot on for their temp being perfect. I throw the thermometer in there from time to time too. I'll probably switch to an incandescent as we cool down the brooder. It's...
Our family of 6 has decided to get a flock of 6 to start!
We have a Rhode Island Red, Speckled Sussex, Barred Rock, Ameraucana, Gold Laced Wyandotte and a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte.
Here is our brooder. Note: I later moved the heat lamp much closer in the kennel.
We are super excited to...
I got excited when I saw that people had used an XL dog kennel for a brooder. I happen to have one in storage. I covered it in hardware cloth and used cardboard up the sides for extra warmth and to keep the shaving in.
We have 6 sweet babies in here and they seem to be very happy. We have...
