    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Looking to re home my small flock of 5 birds. They are right at 1 year old and are fantastic layers. I have 3 golden comets and 2 easter eggers. The comets lay XL to Jumbo size eggs and lay daily even through winter and when they were molting. The easter eggers lay almost daily and one lays pink...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

LOL yes, it is our favorite too. This one is VERY curious but also very shy. When we got her the people were novice chicken people and just threw them in with their larger birds with no integration what so ever so she was missing lots of feathers from being pecked and chased constantly and was a...

    ....they destroyed my garden...

Nearly any type of domesticated fowl will clean out an entire garden in very short time if left alone to it, especially if there are vegetables or other things they like. Can you fence in your garden so they don't have access or put up some netting around the flower boxes?

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

You aren't too far away, we moved our comets out at 6 weeks but we had about 2 weeks of really warm weather then so they had nice time to adjust. It was 26 here this morning, when I went to open their door they were just hanging out on their roost and within a minute or two were heading down the...

Cleaning the coop - few questions

Depending on the size of your yard you may want to look into one of the plastic or resin compost barrels. Once it starts....composting, it can get a bit smelly so I probably wouldn't put it right next to the coop/run since chickens can have sensitive respiratory systems it is one less thing to...

What breed do we have here?

Had a friend who got too many birds for their coop/run size who bought extras expecting to lose a few. They asked if we wanted any so we took these 2. They are currently on quarantine before we integrate them to our flock. Our friends were told they were EE's but after looking through all the EE...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hello from Clark County. Not necessarily new to chickens but new to this website. I came across it while trying to figure out what breed these 2 new ones we took in are. Seems like there is a lot of good information here.

Most important things in coop design

Pull out cleaning tray lined with scrap linoleum is nice in addition to your doors, you can spray it off with a hose and bleach if it gets too nasty. Poop boards also keep poo in the bedding to a minimum if you don't use deep bedding method. Again line with something that can be sprayed off...

    Cockerel or Pullet?

5 week old Easter Egger, can't decide if it is a pullet or cockerel. Its saddle feathers are starting to curve but its comb is almost non existent.
