My hen looks like she's molting, she's lost more feathers slowily over the past 3-4 months, only on her neck and she hasn't gotten any new feather growth in. Is she molting and what can I do to help her.
Our cuckoo maran went broody about a week and a half ago. She has been very persistent on hatching eggs. I finally got her some fertile eggs and figured I'd let her hatch them. She is currently on day one. My concern is whether I should move her or not. The temperature has not come below 100...
yeah, she one of two. The other one has a straight bottom black and a curled upper. It's what I get for ordering from a hatchery, I hatch all my own now.
Hello, have any hatched? I'm concerned about the flooring of your incubator. The holes are very big, do you have something else down for when they start to hatch?
Alright, I just set 5 more eggs today, might throw some more in tomorrow. I cranked up the temp to 101.5 since my last batch hatched a day late (for the one chick that actually hatched). Fingers crossed!
On the maran, it died on day 18-19, but had a decent air cell size. The EE was malpositioned and had a major scissor beak. It also had abnormal sized air cell as well. I'm sad about the outcome, but glad it isn't hatch, since I already have two sissies beaks to worry about.
Just ended my hatch with one surviver (granted I only had three to start) but it looks like one was malpositioned (it also has scissor beak) and looks like another dies around day 18. This one always looked too small for the egg. My thought is maybe it didn't lose enough moisture. I dry...
It's officially the end of day 21 for my eggs. I have one with an internal pip (I think pipped this morning) but hasn't externally pipped yet. It's chirping and shaking the egg, but not pip. At a loss as to what to do. thoughts?
