Thank you guys for your help. We have put most of them in a bigger area and there has been no more trampling. Needless to say we probably wont be getting anymore RIRs.
I have 22 Rhode Island Red chicks. They are 2 weeks old and are in the same brooder I used for my 20 mixed flock chicks who are now grown. They have clean water and bedding, they have plenty of food and heat and an area to get away from the heat if they would like. They keep smashing each other...
One of my chicks is about 4 weeks old and looks like her lower beak came off. She is peeping a lot and Im not sure what to do. There is really no blood and she was fine last night.
Just wanted to give an update real quick. Peep, as I have been calling her, has stopped most of her peeping. She still chats with the other chicks but its normal now and not crazy haha. Thanks for the help everyone
We are looking get some more chickens. We currently have Sex-links, Barred Rocks, and Rhode Island Reds. I was looking in to giants. Are they a lot bigger than other chickens? Do they have to be kept in a different area due to size or can the be in with the rest of the flock?
