    all white hens are dying

I would like to add that she has come out from UNDER the roost. She did not roost last nite and stayed in a corner up under the roost. But she just stands by the water feeder and leans on it or puts one foot up on the lip of it. Seems as if she is traumatized but is moving around some. Should we...

    all white hens are dying

We have had 4 now that have died. We are not sure what the problem is. The last one I think may have been egg bound and now have another who can't roost. Her bottom looks swollen. We have bathed her in warm water and massaged the area but it doesn't seem to help. We did have a rooster who I...

    Raising and caring for ducklings

You asked about the pen. Its a pen inside a fenced in yard. We have a box for sleeping w hay but they have not used it. Water, feed and a small pool. Only one so far has attempted to get in the water. I think they are about 6 wks old. Why do you need to remove the water and feed at nite when...

    Favorite chicken died this morn

We still are not sure but think maybe the rooster had something to do with her death. We are now trying to find the rooster a home. He has just recently started to attack my husband when he goes in the coop for the eggs. We had a very mean one once and couldnt' even go in the yard unless you...

    Raising and caring for ducklings

We just recently acquired 2 ducklings. Right now they are in the back yard w a pen around them. Provided a cardboard box and some straw/hay. They seem to stay in the hay and not the box at nite. Is this normal? Also, I am kind of worried about the droppings and salmonella. How do you handle...

    Favorite chicken died this morn

They have been treated for that. The others are still fine. I saw nothing wrong. She seemed fine other than loosing weight. And we did not notice that until she was listless and picked her up to move her to a different area with lighting and hay. Then she passed within a few min. Seemed she had...

    Favorite chicken died this morn

It seems there are a lot o things it could have been. The others are fine. I saw no evidence of lice or mites. She was very thin tho. A necropsy is out of the question. We live on a tight budget. We are going to miss her tho as she was very tame and would b waiting at the gate for my husband and...
