Hello, this would be a great time to test the incubator I got for Christmas. Please add me to the list. I'm not sure how many eggs I will set yet.

    Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

You have a splash hen and a black laced red Wyandotte there. My splash hens are very pale in the comb also. I would do some research to compare to others if you still are not sure. If you crossed a black laced red and a splash, you should get blue laced reds. The color would need work though...

    Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

He is really brassy in the hackle areas, which is really hard to get rid of. He is beautiful all the same, I would keep him if he were mine, but wouldn't use him for breeding. The color they are shooting for is a deep red mahagony. That's just my opinion also, just being honest. ; ). I'm sure...

    B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

Yes, the livestock conservation list...I found a regional breeder. However, she does not have chicks right now, but I'm not in any hurry, I can get them in the spring. I live in Michigan. : ) So, I want to prepare for them accordingly. (insulating, and learning how to protect against...

    The Dorking Breeders thread

Quote: Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it. I would think it would be easier to spot a quality white bird also, due to some birds having breed standards on type, piled on top with standards on what a good quality color is. I would imagine the birds are always pure white...

    My back yard coop

That's a beautiful coop. I am going to be painting this fall, what color did you use? I think that's what really sets it above the rest.

    The Dorking Breeders thread

Hello! I just started researching Dorkings and I'm very interested in adding some to my backyard flock. I aspire to be a breeder someday, but only if I have quality birds. I live in Southwest Michigan. Are there different varieties of Dorkings that would do better here due to the cold in...

How do I know if a silver laced wyandotte is show quality?

I have a hen that is a 2nd generation hatch chick. We do love her, and I was not hoping for her to be a "show quality" hen. However, when her comb came in...it wasn't really a full comb...and for the longest time I thought she didn't have one and this was just a result of her poor breeding...

    Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

Yes, very dark...give them time to grow though. I believe the proposed breed standard is pidgin blue though, but give them time then we will see their "true colors". : ). Keep posting!

    Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

I think he is a blue, but his color is a little muddy...that may be why you are getting the mixed chicks also. Maybe someone with more experience can respond? Quote:

INCUBATING w/FRIENDS! w/Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs No problem!

I was worried about my "little lonely" chick. Boy did he shock me! I thought he'd get pecked at and pushed around. Turns out he is quite the fighter! He went up to the slightly older chicks, looked then in the eye, and pecked at them till they backed off! Ohmygosh it was so funny! They...

If I put my day old chick with chicks that are 6 days old, is there going to be an issue????
