Our babies are ready to go outside! We cleaned out the coop today and will be moving them in tomorrow. I installed plastic dipped hardware cloth on the entire floor! Sprayed for bugs, put diatomaceous earth down every where, new bedding! It got kind of late so we decided to wait till the morning...
We got our coop ready today!! Our babies are now officially 6 weeks old!! We put plastic dipped hardware cloth on the floor because we were having some rat problems with the old flock. They were digging under the bottom 2x4’s. This should keep them out for good!
Wow! The baby’s aren’t baby’s anymore! It’s amazing how fast they are growing! We really love the new brooder set up!! The girls love it too and it’s very easy to clean and we don’t have to worry about the fire hazard!! We are going on 4 and 5 weeks right now!
Cleaned out the chick pen today!! Fresh bedding and raised the water up one more block. I can’t believe how fast they are going. I think we are going to move them to the coop next week and keep the brooder with them.
We gave our little ones mealworms today for the first time! They loved them!!
They are 3 and 4 weeks old this week!! Should be ready for their coop mid April!!
Thanks for the advice! It’s been a while since we started fresh with chicks. We picked up some chick grit today at our local feed store and sprinkled a little bit on top of their food. They told us to do that for two days then offer it as free choice. We also picked up some treats!!!
Thanks TaylorGlade! My wife loves that breed ! lol how many do you have?
We hadn’t heard of a Cherry egger either. While on our 4 day chick hunt we came across her in Norco California in a feed store. And you all know what happens from there, we had to have one!! 🤷🏼♂️ This is a picture of her...
