    A Bielefelder Thread !

YEP! I'm in Houston, Texas where July might be 112°F amd 90% humidity for days... my Naked Necks are out in the yard happy campers while everyone else is trying to stay cool. My Beilfelders tanked and died despite everything I tried. I thought I got a bad batch, and wanted to get more, but I am...

    DESIGNER EGG CHAIN

Mothergoose sent me a nice set of eggs last Spring. Her eggs were very nicely packed and I wonderful condition. As a novice hatcher I was not knowledgeable on the process and did not have a great rate, but I 100% believe it was my fault. I'm working on becoming more knowledgeable AND purchasing...

WORMING with Fenbendazole - - How much?

My chickens love the safe guard pellets. I don't understands all the hoopla about mixing this or that, or trying to squish the paste down a beak. I guess I'm fortunate to have willing patients.

    How To Raise Roosters Right

Question. I know other animals (dogs, horses, cows, humans...) go through teenage hormones that temporarily give them attitude. My 7mo old Cockrell is having spells of bad attitude. Sometimes he is perfect, then oit of the blue (or sometimes not out of thw blue... he is protective of his two...

someone is being a naughty boy!

I noticed in the close-up photo that his comb is dark in the back side, and has some discolored spots. I'm wondering if he is ill... this new behavior started suddenly, right?

    Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I I would LOVE to get some 2016 pullets!! (Or, some 2017 hatchlings.) Hubby bought my coop for Christmas. It's BIG 16×32... And I have THREE chickens. Hehe. Room to expand... My rooster is Turken from Mothergoose. They (Turkens) seem to do particularly well in the Texas heat.

What breeds lay during winter with NO additional light source?

My plan is to buy 6 pullets every 3 months for the first 18mo. That way they will be molting at different times and hoping I get a couple broodys in each set. I suck at hatching in an incubator...

    Naked Neck/Turken Thread

That's funny, I just wish Pete would crow at 4:15 and be DONE. Instead, he crows at 4:15, and at 5:15, and at 6:15... and every hour until 10. Unfortunately, he also wakes the cat, who sits on my windowsill squalling for breakfast. So! I'm usually thinking "shut UP, Pete, your gonna wake the...
