Quote: You crack me up. I'm dying of the heat today and you're already worried about snow! When it gets really cold and snowy your chickens will probabbly choose to spend most of thier time in the coop. I found it easiest to shovel a path to the coop every day and a small area of the run so...

I just bought a small (4.4 lb.) bag at CountryMax for $9.99. It was in the garden section, it's very popular for keeping bugs off plants, too. I was told they ussually have in in larger bags but I can't remember what the price was.

I took one of my roos to the Williamson Animal Hospital when I thought he had a broken leg. Turned out he had pulled his sciatic nerve and the wonderful vet there gave him a shot of cortisone and never once suggested that I cull him or batted an eyelash that I wanted her to treat a chicken. In...

I have 2 roos in my small flock. lol. The eggs she's sitting on, however, are silkie eggs that I purchased on ebay. (sold , of course, as fertile hatching eggs.) I didn't want to isolate her too soon because she would really miss her coop mates and I have no fear of them hurting her or her...

I have a first time broody sitting on 3 eggs that I should have left well enough alone. Today was day 5 and in my excitement to candle the eggs and see if I could make out anything at all I cracked one. feeding cabbage

Hi, Everyone! I have a head of cabbage left over from St. Patty's day and would like to share it with my flock. What's the best way to do this? Should I cook it? Leave it raw? Break it up in pieces? Don't want it to go to waste, and I've had my fill for this year.
