Hello all, we recently decided to add to our little flock and got three baby chicks. Two Are Rd Island reds and are clearly pullets. The third I was told was a black silver laced Wyandotte straight run, so I just assumed I was getting a cockerel, which was fine with us, we lost our last Roo. So...
ok so we are new at this, we have a small flock of 7 girls and 1 Roo all just about 15 months old. About 2 weeks ago we started getting very very small brown eggs from one of our girls, we weren't sure which one. The eggs were "normal" just very small and had no yolk. We did not eat them. I...
Thanks so much for in the info! My husband felt so bad for me, he went online before I got home and just happened to find a young Silver Laced not too far from us that needs a good home. But thanks so much for the offer of your New Hampshire. I looked them up online, beautiful birds! If...
ok, so I'm so sad, just got a call from my hubby at home. I guess the neighbor's dog got our rooster I'm so sad. We've only had chickens for 4 months now, just got our first egg yesterday! and now "Chuck" is gone. I didn't really even think I liked him that much, but apparently I did. We...
Our 1st egg EVER!!!! So excited! I may be more excited than our boys even are. So it is greenish blue, and so little, it had to be one of our 2 Easter Eggers, which surprised me. I figured one of our RIR or Barred Rocks would be first. They are all only 20 weeks old, so I was super surprised...
LOL, so, update on my SLW, "she" was renamed "Chuck" and most def a cockerel, we heard his first very pathetic attempts at crowing 3 days ago, hilarious!!! He was giving it his all but only got a few ruh-roos out. He is only about 10-11 weeks now but getting bigger than the other girls quickly...
Lol, so what Im getting here is that the lines of Ameruacana and Easter eggers have been blurred. I appreciate everyone's input. Overall, we are not breeding, just some girls of our own for laying. Sounds like either way I'm going to get some pretty eggs, either blue or green!! Either way I'm...
Ok guys here is Ellie, i finally got her to stand still for me, not great pics but you can at least see her coloring, she has the same color legs as Henrietta, but you cant see that in the pics. She is also about 10 weeks.
Yes! this is Henrietta, she is about 10 weeks old or so. Our other one is not cooperating with the camera today, but she is all white/cream with gray legs also. I would assume that whatever Henrietta is, our white is going to be the same breed, as they came out of the same brooder at the...
Hi there,
I have 2 "Easter Eggers" but have read that if they have the gray slate colored legs they are really Ameraucanas? Is that right? both are beautiful birds and it doesn't matter to me but would just like to know for sure. I got them from the local farm supply store.
Thanks!!
