    Raising indoor ducks?

I forgot to mention one thing. Use a deep tray under the water and food bowls to catch all the water for when they eat and drink. Btw, if you can have the bowls hang, that would be ideal as the ducks ALWAYS stepped in the bowls (and knocked them over).

    Raising indoor ducks?

Hi brittreese, that's awesome that you are preparing ahead of time for your new ducklings. Here's a list of "must-haves" that we used when we got our 2 ducklings this past Spring: For the first couple of weeks: 1. A cardboard box (about 3'L 'x 2'W x 2'H to start with then move up as they...

    Grapeleaf skeletonizers

Hi, you must be feeding your chickens so well that they skip the skeletonizers. They'll come around. My ducks ate as many skeletonizers as they could find and reach. Thanks for asking, ducks are still alive and kicking.

    Raising indoor ducks?

Cute duck and nice (blue and white ruffled) diaper. Did you make the diapers yourself or did you buy them? I'd like to get one for my girl.

    Grapeleaf skeletonizers

Update.......So I fed them the caterpillars and they loved it. They're still alive and quacking so it's safe to say the caterpillars are fair game.

    Never ending swarming pesty FLIES!!!!!!

Hmmm, thanks I didn't think about that. I'll have to try it. However, I don't see any flies ever flying near the jug. I've placed it inside the coop on the ground, on a chair, on top of the dog house, on the table, in the sun, in the shade..pretty much everywhere. I've even tried swirling...

    Grapeleaf skeletonizers

@Newbee58 , thanks for the idea. I didn't think about searching info about the grapeleaf skeletonizers carrying parasites but that's a good thought. I was more concerned about any toxicities that bright-colored worms might cause because mother nature provides that as a defense mechanism...

    Grapeleaf skeletonizers

@Amiga , I wish my ducks could eat the tomato hornworms but I've read that since the tomato plants (in the nightshade family) are poisonous to ducks, and the worms concentrate the plant toxin in their blood, ducks cannot eat the hornworms. It's too bad because their big juicy sizes would've...

    Never ending swarming pesty FLIES!!!!!!

I've tried the jugg fly trap where you fill the milk jug with half water and a tube of attractant. It's been 4 days since I set it out and I've only caught 1 fly with it. I tried adding in another half tube of attractant and still no improvement. I don't know how other people in the post are...

    Grapeleaf skeletonizers

The grapevine came from a local reputable nursery. The ducks came from a well known farm in N.California.

The grapevine has been in the garden for about 10 years. Infestation started 3 years ago. Ducks are only 4 months old.

Does anyone know if it's safe to feed these ugly and gravevine killing larvae to my pekin ducks?
