Yup the ring collar is another drake sign but all my other drakes from same spring hatch have classic dark head and body colour. Will be fun to watch he/she change! -

Well here is a photo of 2 breeding pair of Silver Appleyard. You can see why I think mine is a she-he! Thanks for all your responses. Everybody seems certain the curl feathers define sex. Because this duck is part of 2019 spring hatch and none are laying yet, I will wait for an ‘egg’ or ‘no-egg’... -

By all other accounts this appears to be female Silver Appleyard duck with her colouring except she has sprung two curl feathers? Has anyone experienced this? Is she a he?
