Thanks for the info. Yes I have been researching hatcheries across the US and I understand it is a very difficult breed to find. I have found a private breeder in Texas but was hoping to find a private breeder in the PNW. My search and research continues. :jumpy
Good Morning!! I'm still looking for anyone who is raising Standard White Cornish in the Pacific Northwest. I understand there was someone in Washington State possibly in the Yakima area but we seem to have lost contact with her. I have been buying shipped eggs from Texas. Not a good hatch...
Good Morning! Here's an update on the chicks I hatched from my WR Rooster and Delaware and WJG hens. I was confusing auto sex with sex link. They were auto sex at hatch and they are all barred roosters...as I suspected from the white or yellow dots on their heads at hatch. I had set 7 eggs...
I am in search of white cornish standard hatching eggs. I live in Central Oregon. If you ship or I can travel a reasonable distance to pick them up. Thank you
I do have White Jersey Giant hens in this separated flock also. I just don't know which eggs are from the Delaware's or the Jerseys as they all use the same nest boxes. I believe all the hens are laying as I have 8 Delaware and 6 Jerseys and I'm getting 10 eggs on one day and 12 the next. Not...
Thanks NatJ:
I have a lot to learn where genetics are concerned. I appreciate your input. I am researching and have text on the way. I will post as they mature. :):jumpy
2 roosters so far. These are hatching sexlink..they have black feathers yellow dots on their heads. As soon as they all hatch and fluff up an I can get them out of the incubator I will post some pics.
I too am experimenting to raise my own meat birds....or at least something close. My thought is...what if I could not buy CC chicks from a hatchery...same with the grocery stores...if supply chains went down...So...I did some research and and crossing a White Rock rooster over Delaware and...
Hello All:
Yep been busy here on the farm. Turkey hatching season was successful and I am trying an experiment for raising broilers or at least something similar...that's what brought me here today....doing research. My thought was what if I couldn't get broiler chicks from a hatcher...Kind...
Well..... I use Oregano oil for coccidiosis. I did run that sentence together. It's wonderful that we have so many people on this forum that can give great suggestions and help each other out. Some have been at it longer than others but there is always a learning curve. We never know it all.
Thank you for the information good to know. My waterer and food for my poults and chicks is never by a heat source. I use a Brinsea brooder not a heat lamp for a heat source I find they are much safer and better for the poults and chicks. I have never had a problem with using acv. :))
I hatch a lot of poults and chicks and I always grind the Turkey Starter for the poults in a coffee grinder a bit and for the first week or so to make sure they are eating well.. I do the same for chicks and them gradually mix in the regular feed with the ground so they can adapt to eating the...
I raised chicken and game birds when I was in High School...in the '70's!! I couldn't have them again until 2012 and when I bought my own property. The first of my flock I purchased RR and now I am raising Belifelder with a few RR red. The past three years I've hatched out most of my own...
