    ISO Black N/N Naked Necks

Hi, all. It has been a long time, but I'm looking for some black naked neck chicks or eggs of two parents without bibs. Please let me know if anyone has any or if you know of breeders who produce good quality black N/N birds. (And yes, I aware that birds with bibs are currently more popular...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

By the time of the market, they'll be about 17 weeks. Most of our breeds start laying late. (22-26 weeks)

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

How much do you all charge for unsexed chicks and older pullets? I'm planning to sell some of my excess. We have several breeds but most are barnyard mix. I was thinking $10 for purebred and $6 for barnyard mix chicks. $15 for pullets. Is that crazy?

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

It's a bad year for minks. I know multiple people who have lost their flocks to them this year. Have you tried playing a radio all the time? Apparently that helps to keep predators away. I haven't done it but we have a friend who does.

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Ah, so much good information here. Thank you! The more I learn, the more intriguing they get. I mainly wanted Orpingtons for the sweetness and broodiness, but I just love the look of the well bred lavenders I've seen. I didn't know what to look for with eggs, so even though she's a breeder...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Oh, and my favorite birds are ducks if we're going by personality. If we're going by any other trait, it would be any bird other than ducks. :lau

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

May I ask how you go about finding English orps and if you need to have pure parent stock to get good, heavy framed orpingtons with non- shredding? I am getting hatching eggs from someone tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to them for many reasons. I'm curious if mine will ever look as full...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hi, I posted on the general Buy/Sell/Trade, but would anyone local have lavender orpingtons? I prefer hatching eggs. 😊 Thank you all!

    When to Downsize?

I can't decide whether we should downsize or try to figure something else out. We have mean chickens and ducks. None of them like each other. I think we introduced them the "right" way, but they just aren't getting along. They've all paired off. We have a pair of mating ducks, their offspring...

    Crap.

I'm not so sure he's going to be ok. His one little foot is all turned around. The other foot was folded up but now looks good. I'm hoping this one will also straighten out but I don't want to mess with it until he dries off. Poor little thing.

Yay! He absorbed the yolk. Now waiting to see how he does. Thank you guys!

    Crap.

There is an opening. I have actually never had a Chick whose yolk sac wasn't absorbed, so I'm struggling to see what I'm looking at exactly in this gosling. It's really dark in color with almost no yellow. I had to leave for awhile, so I'll try to take a photo this evening of it. My heat is...

Thank you so much! It actually did come out on its own, but probably because I removed too much. I'll switch the towel and make the nest. I appreciate your help!

Ok, I have it on a warm, damp towel in the incubator so it hopefully wouldn't stick.

    Crap.

Yes, out of the shell. I didn't realize it hadn't absorbed completely when I chipped away the top and then it came out on its own.

I feel so guilty. We were incubating a goose egg for a friend. It externally pipped 3 days ago. Yesterday morning, it started to zip and then stopped. I noticed the membrane was very thick and dry, despite us keeping the incubator at 80% humidity, so I gently peeled back some shell. I have...
