    I would go for the larger run. I put a divider in my run at the end in case I had to separate a chicken. Also put in a mini hutch with egg boxes.     :)I'm way late on this thread but did you use an antibiotic on the hole and wrap the foot? Blood isnt bad it just means you got all the dead tissue and bleeding a little comes from healthy tissue.
