Great news!
Missee has basically made a full recovery - with the exception of her refusing her layer feed!! Long story short, my dad and I have her injections of .5 ml of tetracycline twice a day from Saturday through Wednesday. Saturday’s dose was just once. On Tuesday, my vet and I decided...
Thank you for your replies! We were in the middle of a blizzard so my vet was snowed in yesterday. I went to the feed store per my vet to get medicated feed and oxytetracycline. Missee has had two injections of it, on top of some electrolyte water. Missee ate a spoonful of oatmeal this morning...
Hello,
My hen, Missee, has had quite the couple weeks. She is going through a moly and has lots of pin feathers on her underside. About three weeks ago, Missee laid a rubber egg and the next day laid a thin-shelled egg. I’ve been giving her aspirin as instructed by my vet and then gave her...
Oh! I hadn't thought of that! I bet they'll love that. Do I need to be careful of what kinds of wet cat food or tuna to feed them? Missee ate the best yesterday than she has all week, but today - Saturday - she took a step back or two and didn't eat much. She is still acting pretty normal, though.
You aren't kidding about how they can keep a person on their toes!!! I've been trying to feed her whatever she will eat. I was at Walmart last night and read that you can feed chickens parakeet food as a treat. My dad separated them into to side-by-side dog crates. She's eaten more at this point...
I have two young hens, Millee and Missee. Millee is very dominant, and Missee is rather meek and quiet. A few weeks ago - maybe 3? - they both had some frostbite on the tops of their combs. They seemed to have been doing fine. Then, earlier this week, I fed them and noticed that Millee was...
I posted a month or two ago about one of my pullets having a broken beak. That one was pretty minor and grew back just fine. Now, my other one broke her beak. I think it got stuck on the cage that I had stuck some treats into. It's bled some, but it's pretty much stopped. I have used the...

My 5 month old pullet broke the tip of her beek last weekend. I have been feeding her watered down feed for a few days, and noticed tonight that her crop is squishy. Could this be due to the extra water, or could it be sour crop?
Thanks for any help!
Thank you! I gave her some plain yogurt last night and then gave her some feed mixed with water today. I didn't think of the soft surface, though!! I will definitely do that tomorrow. Thank you!
I noticed that one of my pullets, Missee, has a split and broken beak tonight. I can't tell if part of it is cracked or not. I think she ate okay earlier today, but I noticed that tonight, she's not eating like her sister. Any ideas on what I can do to help her?
Ok. That's kind of what I thought. I've been smothering their legs with Vaseline at morning and night the last couple of days. Is that too often? Do I need to make a mixture then of Vaseline, oil, and A + D ointment? Their vents are clear, as of last night. Thank you for your help!!
