Friendly American Guinea Hog Free to Good Forever Home

Hello, My 2 year old American Guinea Hog, Buttermilk, needs to find a new home. Unfortunately, we will be moving out of the country and can't take her with us. She is very friendly and will follow you around the yard like a dog. She comes to her name and "pig." We think she is around 150lbs and...

    Cemani’s?

I’ll try. Offered blueberries for friendship which they seemed to accept.

    Cemani’s?

Can anyone ID these? Sorry the photos aren’t great, they’re skittish. They’re all black with small hint of brown in the feathers. Combs, waddles, and legs are black. Bonus: does anyone know what the bantam is? Thanks!

Ameracauna and Lavender Orpington Roosters Need New Forever Homes

Hello, I have a 5 month old Ameracauna cockerel and a 1 year old Lavender Orpington rooster that need new homes. I want them to go to homes where they will be cared for and not butchered. They are both sweet birds and have shown no aggression to humans and do quite well with the hens. It...

    Uh-Oh...Ameracauna Cockerel or Pullet

Picked up this Ameracauna chick as a pullet that was a couple days old. I’m hoping it’s a pullet but there looks to be some pointed feathers that could be saddle feathers. As this is my first Ameracauna, I’m hoping it’s breed similarity thing and not a sign of a rooster. Even if it is, it is...

Chick with unequal pupils, head tilt and lethargic

Just wanted to provide an update. Betty White the chick passed away last night. We helped her along so she wouldn’t suffer anymore which was sad. Talked to a DVM and said it sounds a lot like trauma wouldn’t argue infectious diseases so that is nice to know. Still keeping on eye on the others...

Chick with unequal pupils, head tilt and lethargic

Update - The chick is still lethargic and she doesn’t seem to be able to eat or drink on her own. Her pupils look better, but I am not sure how well she can see. She keeps the “hurt” eye open now but she still does this head turned to the left (which was the larger pupil originally). It’s...

Chick with unequal pupils, head tilt and lethargic

We got her and the several others in the brooder with her from Rural King. I believe the hatchery was out in NM. We do have older chickens but they haven’t been in contact with them. If it is Marek’s, I am worried for the other chicks and my older flock. What do you recommend for taking...

Chick with unequal pupils, head tilt and lethargic

Hi Chickabee, She is with 7 other chicks so it’s definite possibility, but I haven’t noticed any bullying or cannibalizing. I inspected both eyes and nothing seems off except the unequal pupil sizes.

Chick with unequal pupils, head tilt and lethargic

Hello all, I have about a 4 week old white leghorn pullet that has unequal pupils. In the last 3-4 days, she became lethargic and not acting herself. Stays to herself in the brooder. She cocks her head to her left side which seems to be her “hurt” eye. She favors the right eye which is less...

Any breeders of Swedish Flowers or Cream Legbars?

I thought that I would just buy a few and pick them up from Greenfire, but apparently Greenfire won't let you stop by their operation. Does anyone breed these in north Florida? I am located near Gainesville, FL.

    RIR cockerel behavior questions

Thank you for your reply. The girls seem pretty happy and relaxed most of the time so I guess were ok.

    RIR cockerel behavior questions

I recently discovered that I have a RIR cockerel - he's about 4 months and I am new to having chickens. As a chick, he was more aggressive with the other chicks (3) who are all pullets. He would peck at their toes causing some blood - really annoying but keeping him isolated for a little bit...
