So, we took time. Introduced them through the fence for a few days after his quarantine
I put him on roost bar in their house last night when all été sleepy, and all are getting on swimmingly
Just gave them all a dangling lettuce which they shared happily
So based on everyone's feedback, I'll house him with the reds
He's in quarantine a week
Then I'll have him alongside the reds for a week so they closely see each other and can chat between a fence
Then I'll add him to one of their roost bars when reds asleep (so when they all wake he's there)...
Thank you
All of our girls are roughly 3 years old (Inc silkie and sussex)
All are rescued
The boy we're told is a year
He is a big boy! (Very handsome too)
There's no tight space.
The 9 hens live in a purpose built house
3m x 3m internal with 6 nesting boxes to choose from
3 long roost bars...
The groups aren't unstable as they're housed separately and both groups have a great deal of space
We have no intention to breed, not because of our choice of birds, we just don't want babies and everything that entails (plus lots of hens needing good rehomes, so I adopt rather than breed)

Hi all
I have 11 chickens who I keep in separate coops with separate runs 9 in one, 2 in another (i know, spoiled right?) due to fighting (9 rescued reds from factory are quite vicious, and almost killed my little silkie and sussex)
I have just got a rooster to "mediate" my 9 rescue reds
We...
We don't want chicks.
Have put together our version of chicken jail.
Think this will suffice?
She can't nest as we've put chicken wire along the floor
Few bits of wood for her to stand on
No access to hen house
She popped down from nest on her own for some food and a peck around for about 20 minutes last night, then back to nest - no egg
This morning she was down waIting to be released from chicken House
I let her out
Again she had a peck around then back to her nest
Gave her a warm epsom salt bath...
Just took from nest
Abaddon no egg
No growling
She walked around a little
Scratched a but
Then hopped back into chicken run, grabbed a bite to eat then back to nest
Doesn't seem in any discomfort
Bit bedraggled from her earlier bath but otherwise looking good
If I go to pick her up she doesn't growl
She did roll egg of her housemate under herself yesterday
No feather issues
Poop normal
She was sat with tail in air after her last bath but then walked around
Behaviour normal other than nest sitting
We're relatively newbies to chickens
Have a little Sussex who laid daily every day around 10am
5 days ago she started spending excessive time on the nest
She was still eating, not lethargic but not laying at her usual time
She continued to lay daily (grtting later and later in the day) until...
