    2 harems 1 rooster?

So based on everyone's feedback, I'll house him with the reds He's in quarantine a week Then I'll have him alongside the reds for a week so they closely see each other and can chat between a fence Then I'll add him to one of their roost bars when reds asleep (so when they all wake he's there)...

    2 harems 1 rooster?

The groups aren't unstable as they're housed separately and both groups have a great deal of space We have no intention to breed, not because of our choice of birds, we just don't want babies and everything that entails (plus lots of hens needing good rehomes, so I adopt rather than breed) We...

    2 harems 1 rooster?

Hi all I have 11 chickens who I keep in separate coops with separate runs 9 in one, 2 in another (i know, spoiled right?) due to fighting (9 rescued reds from factory are quite vicious, and almost killed my little silkie and sussex) I have just got a rooster to "mediate" my 9 rescue reds We...

    Egg bound?

We don't want chicks. Have put together our version of chicken jail. Think this will suffice? She can't nest as we've put chicken wire along the floor Few bits of wood for her to stand on No access to hen house

We're relatively newbies to chickens Have a little Sussex who laid daily every day around 10am 5 days ago she started spending excessive time on the nest She was still eating, not lethargic but not laying at her usual time She continued to lay daily (grtting later and later in the day) until...
