    Guinea talk.

@Hpatterson09 Welcome to byc! Sometimes mine go in the trees for a while, usually when they get startled. They probably eat some leaves and bugs while they're up there, so I wouldn't worry about them starving. My biggest concern would be predators.

    What to do with guineas...

Sorry I didn't see this earlier! did they ever come back?

    Guinea talk.

My hens' typical noise(buckwheat) is pretty loud compared to the male's typical chirp. However, when the males scream, it is far louder than the hens. So yes, it is normal.

    Don't eat that.

My leghorns eat Styrofoam when they can get it. They also love the wild black raspberries growing around the yard. They will jump up to pluck themoff and eat them! I have also caught them with a dead minnow (I have no idea how that got in the yard) and a mouse in the coop. They didn't eat the...

Help! Guinea fowl with swollen head

One of my guinea hens has a swollen bump on her head, making the skin fold over the back of the helmet a bit. When I picked her up to examine the lump, I found that it feels like a water balloon. The back of her head and the top of her neck are swollen. I have her isolated, and her poop looks...

    Guinea talk.

@GlennLee, I have seen my guineas (usually male) stand up and stretch their wings up and back when I let them out of the coop in the morning. They seem to be just stretching to me because they aren't looking at another bird when they do it. They do run around with their wings out, too, but...

    Guinea talk.

Hi everyone! I haven't been able to post lately, been busy with school and chickens, but something crazy is happening here. One of my guinea hens went broody on a nest I haven't found yet. I know she went broody because she was around the morning after she stayed out, but didn't range with the...

Two guineas and a leghorn dead. Please help!

Thank you, @TeenageRooster's Dad. I don't think it would be possible to give oral medicine, as the guineas are more wild than tame. I could do amoxicillin after the probiotics and electrolytes if that would help.

Two guineas and a leghorn dead. Please help!

Just looked up botulism. The symptoms do sound exactly like the leghorn, and the paralysis sounds like the guinea. I just cleaned the coop a couple of days ago, so it shouldn't be the bedding. Will the bacteria clear up if it's outside, or will it just get worse? I don't know how long they can...

Two guineas and a leghorn dead. Please help!

No poison that I know of, though they are free ranging. I am going to keep them locked up tomortow, though that isn't permanent. Maybe the neighbor had something out. There is a compost pile, though it's mostly chicken litter. As for bedding, they have wood shavings, I think pine. They do have...

Two guineas and a leghorn dead. Please help!

I posted a thread about the leghorn I lost recently. Now I have lost two guineas. The leghorn was basically standing still and not responding, and the next day she passed away. Today I found a dead guinea in the coop, and one outside that was barely alive. His head was flopping back, he seemed...

    Funny/Sad/Happy stories of your chickens

My guineas chase the neighbor's cat around whenever they see him. The cat has taken to running whenever it sees a chicken! No need to worry about him bothering my birds!
