Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

She's 7 and an animal lover, so even though we've been talking from day 1 about all the things that could happen (including chickens dying and rehoming roosters) possibility vs. reality is something she's still learning. Thanks for the good wishes; I hope we find somewhere good for him and I...

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

No, so we are actively trying to rehome him. Besides, we only have 3 chickens in total so it's not a good ratio anyway. Even though we've been preparing my daughter for this likelihood she sobbed when we heard him crow.

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

No problem - I'm glad to be able to contribute. I started getting worried around week 4 but my husband kept trying to convince me it was fine. And for a while I started to believe it, but around week 9 that comb really reddened. In combination with the behavioral things I had noticed, I was...

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

I did a ton of research and found quite a few others with similar coloring - black and white EE. Here are a couple I bookmarked. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/496691/8-week-old-easter-egger-boy-or-girl https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/656362/feathering-out

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

I promised to follow up on this Easter Egger chick, posted about several times previously (here, here, and here). I was worried early on and unfortunately had good reason to be. We're now at 12 weeks. He started crowing recently and we're seeing beautiful iridescent feathers come in on his neck...

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

I'm doing another check in on my black/white Easter Egger, previously posted. Now we're at 10 weeks and reddening comb. I know that's not a 100% indicator based on other posts I've looked at here, but we're continuing to get concerned this is a rooster. This chick has been the most assertive...

    11 week old easter eggers

Thank you for updating your thread! I have one who is 10 weeks with a small comb that's turning pretty red. I've got my fingers crossed. Good to know it's still not a lost cause entirely.

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

We have a feed store Rhode Island Red (that I'm sure is really a production red) that I was pretty comfortable is a pullet, but my friend freaked me out and said I should keep an eye on her. She's 8 weeks old. Should I be worried she's a slow developing roo? Thank you! This thread has been so...

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

I posted a few weeks ago here and just took some updated pics today. They will be 8 weeks tomorrow and I'm now really thinking that of my two Easter Eggers (both pictured here), one is looking more like a cockerel with that comb color and what appears may be turning into 3 row pea comb? Any...

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Hi there! I am new to this and hoping for some help. We have two Easter Egger chicks (sold to us as Ameraucanas) that are just over 5 weeks old and I'm worried about one being a rooster based on color and behavior. Any guesses so far from the experts? Thank you!
