    Mishap eggs and pre-cracked??

Hi I have an australop who has given me beautiful large eggs up until recently. The last two days it has laid eggs that look like they have cracked in the process of making the shell. One of them even looks like the yolk inside it too big for the shell and has stretched it out (pics attached)...

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Hi there I have 3 black silkies (maybe crosses) which are approx. 8 weeks. I think I might have one girl and two boys, can you help confirm? I think the one with the gold neck feather is a girl (first photo right), and the other two the one with black and white neck feathers and the one...

    Could they be...all girls?

Hi all Its been a few weeks now and I'm still trying to figure it out. I'm still thinking the gold laced wyndotte (now 7 weeks) and lAracauna (mix - now 5 weeks) are girls, but look at that huge pinkish comb and wattle on the Buff Pekin (now 5 weeks), me thinks it might be a boy ??

    Could they be...all girls?

Hi there I know it might be too early still, but half the fun I guess is trying to figure out whether these fluff balls are going to be boys or girls. I have 3 chicks, different breeds (or so I'm told), it could just be me being hopeful but going on looks I think that they might all be...

    Chick down

I don't recall seeing any normal down on its back area, its always been the thin layer of fluff on her back or at least since I've had her which is almost 2 weeks now. I was hoping she might fluff out more as she grew and the down would become more like the tops of the wings (which doesn't seem...

    Chick down

Hi everyone I'm relatively new to raising chicks, and well I noticed on my araucuna (around 2.5 weeks) that it has kinda weird down around its back. Unlike my other chicks (older and younger) who have nice fluffy down this one has a very thin layer of down (almost velvety). You can see from...

Chicks with a strang lump on chest

Hi all So just reading this thread, I think one of my chicks (2 weeks) has a full crop (it was there last night and this morning), not necessarily from being a piggy and eating too much feed but I have wood shavings in their brooder and I suspect it has been chowing down on that. I guess the...

    Australorp girl hopefully??

Hi, was just wonder if someone could confirm whether they think my 5 week old Australorp is a girl? I bought her from a fodder store (who were selling them as sexed females), but over the last week I've been looking at that comb, thinking that It was getting big compared to what I've seen...
