    I figured it out, I had read an article about washing eggs in vinegar water...I did that last night and my eggs are nasty....this is exactly as they were before...like they are pickled...lol Won't do that again...I guess I used a tat too much vinegar...haha

    I was thinking, I left the eggs in the best 3 days, could the hen sitting on them cause the eggs to form layers in the whites...but that wouldn't explain the grit .....

    Actually, that is not the case, the white is in layers around the yolk, it tastes chalky and bland. I swallowed a bite and it like stuck in my throat...nasty taste!

    A hawk got one of mine, but she fought and he dropped her, but she died anyway...glad yours didn't get picked up! A hawk got our neighbors chihuahua, heard it yelp then silence......

    I boiled some eggs, and 4 of the 6 are hard to peel, have strange layers in the whites, and taste chalky and gritty. What could be the reason, PLEASE!

    we have a large back yard, about 1/2acre. We were letting them have the whole area, but....pooping on our patio, porch, swing, was too much for me! Lol we fenced in most of the yard, they still have freedom, and go in their roost willingly!

    We have a chicken who broke her leg, do not know how this happened. ...we splintered it for a couple of weeks, she is jumping ang flapping to get where she wants to go! she even roosts on one leg. She has adapted well!
