Is this Silkie a Rooster or Hen ?

HEN! Lucky you, I have terrible luck picking out hens, still have my 3 silkie roosters and they are free range. They do perfectly fine, even in the snow today they did great. Good luck!

Is this Silkie a Rooster or Hen ?

Wish I saw that photo earlier, that's a hen. You would know if they are roosters by now, you would absolutely see the scrunched comb and from my experience the boys start acting more aggressive. They also walk upright and head out as if they are tall and proud whereas hens can't walk with their...

    Black Phuphan Q&A

I want to know the same information, I can only gather little pieces of information here and there online. Nothing solid or enough information to make me want to invest so much money into a bird, which I can only seem to find one breeder ATM. I suppose it can be a good thing, someone can...

Won my first assorted Greenfire Farms auction! Woohoo!

What looks suspect turned out to be just something that I didn't see explained. I said "some" auctions, not all looked rigged. But apparently a bid can start at $1 and one person can bid say $50 but the bid will only increase by whatever is listed. So bidding $50 is like a hidden reserve, you...

Won my first assorted Greenfire Farms auction! Woohoo!

Well what you see is real. I have been watching it more closely lately and even bid on some things. Some breeders seem to have a hidden minimum and my guess is every time someone bids, they automatically match it or raise it until it hits a certain amount. Only then will bids "stick". Look at...

Ok I just snapped some photos of my roosters and I could see the neck feathers by 4 months, comb by 3. Hope this helps!

Is this Silkie a Rooster or Hen ?

My money would be on roo still, I believe I see the comb and neck feathers of a male. Females tend to have a bushier head and what I call a more uniform feathering on the neck into the body. My roosters always "dance" at me so if he has exhibited that sort of behavior if you lower your hand to...

Won my first assorted Greenfire Farms auction! Woohoo!

I suppose this topic won't get any love but I know for sure that site is a scam now. Here's a photo of the next assortment auction that followed my last post; clearly the price is being raised on purpose. Who bids against themselves?!!? And once again there's two bids at the same time stamp...

Is this Silkie a Rooster or Hen ?

I unfortunately have three silkie roosters, they are crowing right now to tell us to "wake up". That photo needs some clarity but if they have the mulberry "peanut" over the beak then it's a male. It looks like it could be a rooster to me, but again I can't really tell from that one photo. Post...

Won my first assorted Greenfire Farms auction! Woohoo!

Hello everyone, I know this is an older thread by a few months but I wanted to know if anyone had any updates to their posts from winning the assortment auctions from rarebreedauctions.com. I have been watching this website closely as I have been actively trying to win an auction myself, but I...
