    I had that problem too. It was also because I had too many nesting boxes per hen. I closed off a lot of the boxes and only left two open. I was yelled at (by the hens) the first few mornings, but then they got the hang of the roosting bars. Cleaning became a lot easier.

    Thanks for the advice. I'll try a bait once I clean up more of the dirt under. The coop is slightly raised and it makes it hard to clean under. Also there is chicken wire set 12'' deep on all 3 other sides. I probably won't try poison because we mulch/use the dirt in the gardens. Rat seems...
