Okay, what Orpington colours can be shown for the British standard? I know the SPA colours just not the British. Reason being is that I have a handsome golden lace pro rooster with a beautiful comb and wattles.
Breeds that I'm looking for: Silkies (would also be interested in non SPA, colours) Japanese bantam. Brahma, standard or bantam. Poland standard or bantam. But I'm not against other breeds.
While that is true, they are doing their best to get everything up to speed. They had a mink get into the bantam breeds and they have also had a hard time with dorkings this year.
Yes. A lot of the rare breeds tend to go fast.so ordering for next year is a must. Otherwise you'll wait till they post the fist info for the new year and see that they are already sold out for the year
If you are close to SC and are willing to drive. I could see if my breeder would want me to give out contact information. If not sand hill presentation has a multitude of dorkings. ( they are a preservation not a show breeder. They're trying to keep the breed alive that sometimes means babies...
I would think you would end up with some of each color. Probably red with white feathers or blotches of silver or silver with blotches of red depending on whose genetics dominate the chick. If the red roo is dominant you will mostly have red chicks.
I personally like how sweet they are, the meat they produce, the eggs are a nice size and colour :)
This is the sustainable poultry network :http://www.spnusa.com/ it's strictly poultry.
this is my pretty, recessive gene red male.
And next year I should be breeding white rose combed babies. Check with the sustainable poultry network. I have red and will be breeding them this year. I'm considering shipping.
There are:
Cuckoo
Red
Black
White (rose only)
Light grey
Dark grey
Silver grey
Coloured.
Just about all of them can have either rose or single comb except the white dorking.
There are also receive genes in all colors of dorking that affect what they look like. For example. I have a red dorking...
I haven't shipped birds before nor have I set a price yet. I'm not going to be breeding/hatching till the warmer months. I'll look into shipping chicks and see if it's something I'm able to do. Please feel free to check back with me. I also raise Golden Campines.
Hello! I have red dorkings and I'm working with breeders in the sustainable poultry network to help educate people about the dorking breed. I also will be breeding my dorkings to the American standard of perfection.
Hello,
I have a chick with one good leg, she burns off everything she eats right now hopping around and I want to know if there is something I could feed her to boost her calories? She eats nature's best organic at the moment.
In the US it's pretty easy to get it. American hemp llc has it and places like petsmart have the small animal hemp bedding.
And new country organics has it as well.
From what I've been looking at and reading it lasts longer than shavings, and is great for deep littler bedding.
