    Broody Hen Thread!

    I had 2 broody hens in one coop, the one hen stopped being broody as the other one stole all her eggs. Only one of the eggs hatched. You can see all the other eggs in the background.

    Silkie thread!

    I got 6 silkies from an auction last spring... only one left. They don't seem to be too smart and i have had a lot of trouble getting them to perch. Now that my one hen is alone she has started perching. Anyone else have a problem like this? This is my last silkie named Daisy.

    Eggs missing and finding shells away from nesting area.

    I have had lots of eggs missing. I've seen the hens carrying and eating their own eggs and skunks... they seem to only kill my chickens. Rats have also stolen alot of eggs. I don't have a raccon or possom problem.

    It depends on the personality of the chickens. I've had two hens that took turns on the nest. Another two i put together kept switching nests till the one stopped being broody then the other one took all the eggs from the other nest and moved it into hers. One of my hens hates to have other hens...

    hen doesn't sit on eggs enough???

    I have a silkie hen that leaves the nest all the time. She lets the eggs get very cold when she goes out to eat and drink. Three out of seven of the eggs hatched.
